Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly back in the market for Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.

According to Mercato365 in France, Tottenham Hotspur scouted Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in action last week ahead of a possible move.

Dembele left Celtic for Lyon back in August 2018, having smashed 51 goals in 94 games for the Bhoys after a 2016 switch from Fulham.

The 22-year-old forward has impressed in his first season back in his native France too, scoring 18 goals in all competitions whilst also adding six assists.

A host of Lyon players are attracting interest, and Dembele appears to be no different, as it’s claimed that Spurs and Manchester United watched him in action against Bordeaux last week.

Lyon won that game 3-2, and Dembele fittingly scored the winning goal as United and Spurs scouts watched on, potentially giving positive reviews on the striker.

Dembele would certainly be an upgrade on Fernando Llorente in terms of landing real competition for Harry Kane, with Spurs maybe realising they must spend big on a striker given Kane’s ankle injury woes.

A move for Dembele would be intriguing though, as My London reported in 2017 that Spurs had a £6million deal agreed with Fulham for Dembele a year earlier, but he failed his medical and the deal was scrapped.

Celtic clearly weren’t concerned, and Tottenham’s fears may have been alleviated by his consistent playing time with Celtic and Lyon, but they’ll certainly have to pay more than £6million now.
