According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign not one but two new centre backs at the end of the season.

It’s claimed that Spurs are desperate to bolster their back line and now want two new central defenders to begin the overhaul.

Few can blame Spurs for thinking this way, as the Tottenham back line was a shambles against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, losing 3-1.

Who could Tottenham bring in?

Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard are already being linked, with Sky Sports saying contact has been made over both players.

Football.ua in Ukraine add that contact has been made over a move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk defender Mykola Matviyenko, who offers a left-footed option, whilst Danish newspaper claim that talks have been held with Joachim Andersen’s representatives.

Boateng is out of contract this summer so could be a free signing, though Andersen, Vestergaard or Matviyenko would require fees. With talks held over four players already, Spurs could sign two of these players.

Who could leave Tottenham?

In order to bring in a couple of defenders, it’s suggested that Spurs may need to let a couple of their current centre backs leave.

Joe Rodon is out of favour under Ryan Mason, but surely won’t be sold less than a year since arriving from Swansea City.

Davinson Sanchez is far too inconsistent, Toby Alderweireld is now 32 and Eric Dier may have interest from Jose Mourinho at Roma.

It’s easy to see any of those three leaving, paving the way for Spurs to bring in the defenders they want for their new manager.
