According to The Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.
The highly-rated central defender is one of the hottest prospects in English football right now and Spurs are hoping to bring him in to bolster their defence.
Marc Guehi has been with Crystal Palace since 2021 and has since established himself as a key player in the Eagles’ backline alongside Joachim Andersen.
Despite his young age, he has already proven himself at the highest level and has become an England international at the age of just 22 – which is very young for a centre-back.
Interestingly, Guehi is a huge fan of Harry Kane, naming him as one of the best players he’s played with in the past.
Indeed, centre-halves usually don’t peak until their late 20s, and the sky is the limit for Guehi.
The report suggests that Crystal Palace are willing to let Guehi leave this summer, with a transfer fee of around £45m being touted. This would make the 22-year-old one of the most expensive defensive purchases in Spurs’ history, but he would certainly be worth it.
The transfer window may have just closed, but the rumour mill is still up and running, and besides Guehi, Tottenham have been linked with a number of other defenders by The Mail.
Josko Gvardiol and Piero Hincapie have been linked in this report, but it’s Guehi who seems to be the priority for the North London club due to the fact he is homegrown.
Whether or not Spurs are willing to fork out the cash for Guehi remains to be seen, but one has to imagine that this is an attainable target for Spurs. Palace have an asking price that Spurs can easily meet, and he’s a young player who would instantly improve this Tottenham team.
Logic suggests that this is a deal that could be done this summer.
