Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Nice forward Alassane Plea.
According to Footmercato in France, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Nice forward Alassane Plea as their top alternative to Manchester United’s Anthony Martial – and have already offered £22million for his signature.
Spurs have yet to get going in the transfer market this summer despite Mauricio Pochettino’s hopes of getting in new signings in before the World Cup.
Pochettino may want another forward, and the club’s continued interest in Anthony Martial suggests that Tottenham want to land an attacker who can play up front and out wide for Spurs.
Now, Footmercato report that Tottenham have identified their ‘Plan B’ for Martial as they can’t currently afford to convince United to sell him, and it’s actually one of Martial’s former teammates.
It’s claimed that Tottenham want to bring in Nice forward Alassane Plea, and have already offered a deal worth €25million (£25million) in an attempt to lure the Frenchman to North London.
Plea, 25, came up through the Lyon ranks alongside Martial, but moved on a year earlier than the United star, as he joined Nice back in the summer of 2014.
44 goals in 134 games – including 21 in all competitions last season – have seen Plea earn major praise, and it could yet earn him a move to the Premier League if Nice are willing to do business.
Plea has pace and power, which Pochettino appears to be seeking, whilst his experience of playing out wide or up front lends itself to Spurs perfectly, and he comes at a fraction of Martial’s price tag.
