Tottenham Hotspur are amongst the host of clubs keen on signing Napoli star Jorginho during the summer.
Spurs will go into the summer knowing that they may have to replace one of their most important players, with the London Evening Standard reporting earlier this week that Mousa Dembele is looking set to leave the club at the end of the season.
But Mauricio Pochettino appears to have his eye on potential replacements, with the Daily Mail reporting that Tottenham have joined the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal in scouting the Napoli star extensively and speaking to the player’s representatives. It is Pep Guardiola’s men who reportedly lead the race at the moment.
The Mail adds that Napoli would only be willing to sell the Italy international for £53 million, which, as transfermarkt shows, would smash Tottenham’s club record signing if they did decide to meet the Serie A giants’ asking price.
Jorginho has been superb in the Italian top flight this season, so it would undoubtedly be a very encouraging piece of business if Spurs did manage to win the congested race to sign the midfielder.
Replacing Dembele is going to be a huge ask for Tottenham if he does indeed move on in the coming months, but Jorginho appears to have the attributes to step up and take on that challenge of replacing the Belgian. Whether Daniel Levy is happy to pay the money to ensure that they snatch him away from their rivals’ grasp remains to be seen.
