According to The Sun, Chelsea are set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk.
It’s claimed that Spurs are keen on signing Dunk this summer, as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad.
However, Dunk grew up supporting Chelsea, and allegedly thinks that he is on his way to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea are looking at alternative targets having failed to convince West Ham United to sell Declan Rice, and Dunk is the favourite.
A £40million fee would allegedly be needed for Dunk, who idolised John Terry and named his dog after Didier Drogba according to the report.
Brighton have Adam Webster and new signing Joel Veltman in place at centre back, but there are question marks hanging over Shane Duffy, Ben White and now Dunk.

Tottenham have lost Jan Vertonghen this summer, and Mourinho may well have seen Dunk as a potential replacement having starred at Brighton.
However, Dunk turns 29 in November, and splashing £40million on that profile just doesn’t seem like something Tottenham will be pursuing this summer – and they surely won’t be matching any Chelsea bid for the Englishman.
