Lloris was stunning as Spurs beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League but the Premier League outfit are still plotting a Lazio raid.

Tottenham Hotspur have identified Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, according to Calciomercato.

France’s World Cup winning captain Lloris has been the subject of plenty of criticism this season though he showed that there’s plenty of life in the old dog yet on Tuesday with a superb performance in Spurs’ 1-0 Champions League win at Borussia Dortmund.

Nonetheless, the former Lyon stopper is 32 years of age these days and it is reported that Spurs are looking at future successors with Strakosha on their list.

The 23-year-old is an Albanian international who has been Lazio’s number one goalkeeper since midway through the 2016/17 season. He has been very impressive for a Champions League chasing Lazio side who have conceded just 27 goals in 26 Serie A games, keeping a clean sheet in Saturday’s 3-0 derby thrashing of Roma.

Though reported interest from Tottenham is something of a surprise given that Paulo Gazzaniga has stood out whenever he has been called upon to stand in for Lloris this season.

Surely the Argentine deserves a chance to show he should be Spurs’ future number one.
