Tottenham Hotspur want to sign James Maddison this summer no matter who ends up becoming their new manager.

One of the names in the mix is Leicester City star Maddison, with the Daily Mail claiming Spurs really want him this summer.
It’s suggested that Tottenham want to sign Maddison no matter who ends up becoming Antonio Conte’s replacement.
The report claims that Daniel Levy is keen to lure Maddison to Spurs having become enamoured with the Leicester playmaker.
Newcastle United want Maddison too, but it’s suggested that Tottenham’s hierarchy are now ready to deliver Maddison.
Maddison is out of contract in 2024 and Leicester may be minded to sell him this summer before he leaves for nothing.
That plays right into Tottenham’s hands as they look to win the race for Maddison at a relative bargain price.
Tottenham’s James Maddison interest goes back a long way
Spurs have a notable lack of creativity in the middle of the park.
Tottenham just don’t have that forward-thinking attacking midfielder who can link midfield to attack and provide creativity in the final third.
Maddison would fit that bill perfectly and Spurs have actually been very interested in him for a long time now.
The Telegraph reported way back in January 2016 that Tottenham had joined the race to sign Maddison from Coventry City.
Maddison instead ended up at Norwich City but Tottenham’s interest didn’t wane.
Spurs were keen in the summer of 2018 according to The Mirror but they again missed out as Maddison joined Leicester.
There were even claims from the Daily Star (October 5th, p51) that Tottenham had picked out Maddison to replace Christian Eriksen.
Basically, this rumour of Spurs wanting Maddison seems to emerge every year at this point.
This summer may seem like the perfect time to strike a deal though and Tottenham could give their new manager a truly ‘incredible’ playmaker.
