Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with AC Milan’s Franck Kessie.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, AC Milan have fended off competition from Tottenham Hotspur to secure Franck Kessie’s future until 2023.
Kessie, 21, started out his career with Stella Club in his native Ivory Coast, before Atalanta took a punt on his potential in 2015 and loaned him out to Cesena just months later.
The midfielder impressed for Cesena and then hit seven goals in the 2016-17 season, earning himself a two-year loan move to AC Milan with a view to a permanent switch.
Kessie impressed again last term, notching five goals and five assists for Milan, making a total of 53 appearances in all competitions as he became a vital cog at the San Siro.
Now, Tuttomercatoweb report that Milan have already decided to purchase Kessie, and will hand him a five-year deal worth £47,500 a week in a bumper deal for the Ivorian.
The report also claims that Tottenham wanted to land Kessie, but now have to look elsewhere after the youngster committed his future to Milan for years to come.
Kessie’s strength and drive through midfield have seen him earn admirers, and it’s no great surprise that Tottenham potentially viewed him as a successor to Mousa Dembele, especially given his goal record.
Kessie may be a name to keep on the Spurs radar as he continues his development in Italy, but for now, Mauricio Pochettino will have to focus on other midfield players.
