The Austrian could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer but he will not come cheap.
According to a report from German website Express, Tottenham Hotspur are seeking at £17.6million for their centre-back Kevin Wimmer this summer.
The Austrian international impressed when he finally got a chance last season, but this time round he has continued to struggle for minutes and it would be no surprise to see him move on in pursuit of regular first-team football.
The report from Express claims Tottenham are looking to make a profit of around £11.5million after signing the player from Cologne for £6.1million in the summer of 2015.
It also claimed that a number of clubs in England and Germany are interested in the 24-year-old, although his former team are said to have been priced out of a reunion.
Wimmer made a total of 21 appearances for Spurs in his debut campaign, impressing alongside Toby Alderweireld during Jan Vertonghen’s injury absence.
However, he has been unable to build on that with the Belgian duo forming a formidable defensive partnership and not allowing the Austrian a sniff.
As a consequence, Wimmer has featured only 10 times for Tottenham in all competitions and only five times in the league.
With a contract until the summer of 2021 and considering the player’s talent and the inflated market, a £20million asking price is acceptable. But time will tell who is willing to fork out for a defender desperate to prove his worth week in, week out.
