Tottenham Hotspur are said to have been courting Adrien Silva.

Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to Benfica midfielder Ljubomir Fejsa after failing with a bid for Sporting’s Adrien Silva, according to Record.

Spurs are said to have offered €20 million (£17.9 million) for Silva, who is under contract until 2020 and has reportedly emerged as a target for several other Premier League clubs.

But despite having a year less to run on his deal, Fejsa could also prove difficult to prise away from Lisbon, with the report claiming Benfica will not facilitate a deal for the Serbian, who is a mainstay in Rui Vitoria’s side.

The same age as Silva, 28, Fejsa is a more defensive minded player than his Sporting counterpart, and is known for his physical presence.

But while Tottenham appear to have little need for such qualities at this moment in time, it is possible they are planning ahead should Eric Dier leave for Manchester United.

Fejsa, who has 23 caps for Serbia, has won league titles with Partizan, Olympiacos and Benfica.

Tottenham, meanwhile, remain the only Premier League side yet to add to their squad this summer.
