Tottenham are reportedly on the lookout for a new central midfielder.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of central midfielders this week and the latest name rumoured to be interesting Spurs is Lille midfielder Yves Bissouma, according to West London Sport.
Sky Sports claimed last week that the north Londoners’ scouting team were on a mission to find Mousa Dembele’s long-term replacement, with the 30-year-old having just 18 months remaining on his current contract.
Lorient’s Matteo Guendouzi and Inter Milan ace Geoffrey Kondogbia, who is on loan at Valencia, have been mentioned and Bissouma is another player now supposedly on Spurs’ shortlist.
Just 21 years of age, 12-time Mali international Bissouma has been in and out of the Lille side, making just 10 Ligue 1 appearances and remaining an unused substitute for the French side’s last two matches.
Bissouma, who has made 39 appearances for Lille was approached by Inter last summer but a move failed to materialise and he remains under the stewardship of Lille manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Boasting plenty of pace in the middle of the park, Bissouma is in a similar contract situation to Dembele at Lille as he enters the final year and a half of his own deal. The versatile ace can also play at right-back and centre-back.
Spurs currently have Harry Winks, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier as options in the middle of the park as well as Dembele, and Bissouma could be thrown into that mix in the near future with Dembele’s future uncertain.
