Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen on the 18-year-old midfielder.
According to the Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Fenerbahce prospect Oguz Kagan Guctekin, with fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City and Arsenal also keen.
The 18-year-old defensive midfielder is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Turkish club, but his promotion to the senior side this season means that is only a matter of time.
With Manchester City having a £4.5million offer turned down, as confirmed by Fenerbahce’s president Aziz Yildirim, Tottenham now know they have to at least better that to get a deal over the line, and in an otherwise inflated transfer market the Turkish club will hold out for as much money as possible from free-spending English clubs.
Tottenham have so far refused to be caught up in the madness, although they did break their transfer record to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax earlier this month, and a cut-price move for a talented young holding midfielder could be a viable option for the North London club.
Guctekin came through the ranks at Fenerbahce, and while he is predominantly a holding midfielder he can also operate as a centre-back or a left-back if required.
Tottenham are always on the look out for exciting young players and the Turkish under-18 international fits the bill. But whether they would be willing to fork out upwards of £5million for a player yet to make his first-team bow remains to be seen.
