Tottenham Hotspur are set to boost their finances by announcing a new training kit sponsor, according to football.london.

The deal is one of Todd Kline’s first major sponsorship agreements since joining the north London side as their new Chief Commercial Officer in March. Chairman Daniel Levy hired the American with the remit of finding new partnerships, plus dealing with media rights.

Spurs have already agreed their new training kit deal, and the new partner’s logo will feature from next season. The deal will be a welcome boost to their finances after Levy stated he expects to report losses of £200m.

The lack of gate receipts, plus cancelled or postponed events, over the past year heavily impacted Tottenham’s finances. They had to take out a £175m loan with the Bank of England to ensure they had enough funds to operate through the pandemic.

Spurs repaid the loan last month after raising £250m from institutional investors, and will now be better placed financially. The move to announce a training kit sponsor follows similar deals struck by Liverpool with AXA and Chelsea with Trivago.

Liverpool earned £20m-a-year from their deal with insurance provider AXA, but have since included sponsoring their new training facility. Chelsea’s agreement with Trivago is also worth more than the £10m previously received annually from Carabao.

Nuno may land summer boost from imminent Tottenham announcement

New Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo could be looking forward to his side’s imminent new training kit deal. Depending on Levy’s plans for the funds, the Spurs chief could hand the Portuguese and Managing Director Fabio Paratici extra cash for transfers.

Paratici is currently looking to offload a raft of players surplus to requirements to improve his budget, per football.london. The former Juventus executive’s primary aim is to raise enough capital to strengthen Nuno’s defence.

But Tottenham want to make further signings, and know the only way to do so will be through selling players. And so agreeing a new training kit deal could be a welcome boost for Nuno, Paratici and Levy this summer.
