According to The Sun, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is considering handing Cameron Carter-Vickers a more prominent first team role next season.

Carter-Vickers has been on the fringes of the first team for the past two seasons and made his first start for the club last year.

The powerful centre-back is highly rated and is a USA under-20 international.

He was injured for the last two months of the season but recovered to feature at the FIFA under-20 World Cup.

The Sun report Pochettino is to assess Tottenham’s young players, with a view to bringing them into the first team and Carter-Vickers is best placed.

His chances have been boosted by Tottenham’s recent switch to play three at the back, which could give him an ideal opportunity to learn alongside Belgian duo Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

Spurs have also not yet signed a centre-back this summer, and Carter-Vickers could have a chance to influence their transfer dealings if he can impress early on in pre-season.
