Real Madrid contract-rebel Lucas Vazquez has been discussing a potential Premier League switch with Luka Modric amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Everton and Leeds United, according to Defensa Central.

With Jose Mourinho looking to fight off competition from a number of top-flight rivals for the signature of a three-time Champions League winner, it always helps to have a former Spurs hero in their corner.

Modric blossomed into one of Europe’s best play-makers during his time in North London.

And you would imagine that the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner would only have good things to say about Tottenham as Vazquez weighs up his future away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to the Daily Star (28 February, page 45), Spurs are keen to sign Vazquez when his Real Madrid contract expires in July.

The versatile wide man looks destined to leave the Spanish capital after Los Blancos refused to meet his demands of a substantial pay rise.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds are looking to make Vazquez their latest marquee signing, after snapping up fellow Spaniards Diego Llorente and Rodrigo Moreno, while Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton have also made an offer for James Rodriguez’s one-time teammate (Deportes Quatro).

The Mirror claims that Vazquez has also been offered to Arsenal.

But we can only assume that Modric, after discussing the merits of Premier League football with the out-of-contract 29-year-old, is pushing Vazquez in one direction – and it is not the Emirates.
