According to France Football, Lille are set to sign Napoli goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis – and it may push Mike Maignan out of the club.

It’s claimed that Lille are on the verge of selling striker Victor Osimhen to Napoli, but talks have taken a turn in recent days.

At the last minute, Lille have been negotiating a deal to sign goalkeeper Karnezis, with a deal believed to be worth up to £4.5million.

The report states that Karnezis arriving would likely mean the departure of star goalkeeper Maignan; Lille wanted to bring in an experienced stopper, likely with the idea of promoting Leo Jardim to first-choice.

So where could Maignan be heading? Chelsea are in the market for a new goalkeeper, but the strongest link has been with Tottenham Hotspur.

Le10 Sport reported earlier this month that Tottenham are watching Maignan’s situation closely, with Jose Mourinho a big fan.

Maignan’s former Lille goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos is now at Spurs too, so a reunion would make some sense as Spurs target a goalkeeper for the future.

However, it’s hard to see Spurs stumping up for a new goalkeeper unless Hugo Lloris is leaving, which doesn’t look likely.

Tottenham have other priorities this summer, and whilst Karnezis may make Maignan available, a move to North London would still be quite the surprise.
