Ajax’s talented Dutch defender, linked with Spurs in the past, is now believed to be subject to a tug-of-war between Barcelona and Juve.

As the January transfer window edges ever closer, one especially talented youngster has been tipped to join one of Europe’s leading clubs.
Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is just 19 but has already made 86 senior appearances for the Eredivisie giants as well as donning the captain’s armband.
De Ligt has also appeared 13 times for the Netherlands, which is testament to his incredible talents and potential.
One club linked with the teenager is Tottenham Hotspur, the Evening Standard reporting that the Premier League high-flyers see him as a successor to Toby Alderweireld.
However, many signs are pointing to De Ligt edging towards a move to Barcelona, a club with precedent of taking on Dutch stars.
Earlier this week, Ajax and Barca legend Ronald de Boer tipped the centre-back, as well as his teammate Frenkie de Jong, to consider a move to Camp Nou (Esports COPE).

Now, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus have also thrown their name in the hat for De Ligt’s signature.
The report suggests that agent Mino Raiola has been swamped with Barca calls over his client’s availability, but Juve purportedly have a much closer rapport with the Italo-Dutchman.
With Tuttosport suggesting that the fight for De Ligt is between the Blaugrana and the Bianconeri, Spurs need to work extra hard if they are to stand a chance of signing the youngster.
