A report in The Sun has suggested that Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is hoping that Tottenham capitalise on their interest by making a bid for him this summer.
The Sun reports that Shaw is ready to quit Old Trafford after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho, especially after the United boss publicly criticised him recently.
The 21-year-old has played once for United in the Premier League since the end of October despite still being considered by many to be one of the brightest defensive prospects in the division.
According to The Sun, Tottenham will consider moving for the former Southampton man should their star left-back Danny Rose end up leaving for Manchester City in a £50 million deal, and as it turns out, London-born Shaw is reportedly hoping that a move can be completed.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
While Nigel Adkins was the Saints boss who gave Shaw his first chance to be a first-team regular, it was during Pochettino’s tenure that the youngster really kicked on in such a way that United were convinced to sign him.
And if Rose does end up heading to the Etihad this summer, then at least by signing Shaw, Pochettino should have a great idea of the player who is coming in to challenge Ben Davies for the position in Tottenham’s side, and should be just as confident about how to go about getting the best out of him.
