Leicester City ace James Maddison has been asking questions about life in the North East amid interest from Newcastle United.

Newcastle United’s hopes of signing James Maddison are rising amid claims he is exploring living in the North East.

That is according to a report from Newcastle World, who claim that Maddison has been seeking advice on the best places to live around Newcastle.

Maddison has also been asking about Newcastle as a city as well as wanting to find out more about the Magpies as a club.

This will be welcome boost for Newcastle fans, who may have started worrying about missing out on Maddison.

The Northern Echo reported earlier this week that Tottenham have merged as ‘strong favourites’ to sign Maddison.

They claimed that Maddison prefers a move to London rather than heading up to the North East.

Maddison appears to be at least exploring the prospect of moving to Newcastle, giving the Magpies genuine hope of a deal.

Newcastle United need a playmaker like James Maddison

Newcastle appear to be closing in on a new midfielder with AC Milan star Sandro Tonali on the verge of a move to St James’ Park.

Tonali may be able to sit in front of the back four with the freedom to carry the ball forward when possible.

That would free up Bruno Guimaraes to go forward but adding a real playmaker would take the Magpies to another level.

Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai are two of the top targets in that area for Newcastle, with possessing outstanding creativity.

Both are goals threats too and will help Newcastle when teams to sit in and frustrate Eddie Howe’s men.

A midfield of Tonali, Bruno and Maddison sounds hugely impressive and Newcastle will hope that the Leicester star likes what he has heard about Tyneside.
