Tottenham Hotspur will have to shelve their interest in Evan Ferguson with the striker set to sign a new deal at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Tottenham have been showing a real interest in signing Ferguson.
The Daily Mail reported just last week that Tottenham view Ferguson as the heir to Harry Kane at the head of the Spurs attack.
Spurs are hardly alone in being impressed with Ferguson though as Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester United are also keen.
Ferguson has bagged eight goals in 19 first-team games this season, showing immense potential at the age of just 18.
The Irishman looks set t become an absolute superstar and you can certainly see how Spurs view him as a Kane successor.
Any plans for Spurs to make a move this summer will have to be ditched though with Ferguson not looking to move.
Evan Ferguson set for new Brighton contract
The Irish Independent report that Ferguson is on the verge of penning a new deal to stay at the Amex Stadium.
Ferguson only signed a new long-term deal until 2026 back in October.
Brighton are keen to give Ferguson another new deal though and it’s stated that the striker is ‘expected’ to sign on the dotted line.
Manchester United have allegedly shown the strongest interest in signing Ferguson but he won’t be moving any time soon.
The teenager has been compared to Erling Haaland by former Brighton striker Glenn Murray.
That’s a major indication of the potential Ferguson possesses, even if hitting the Norwegian’s goalscoring exploits will be incredibly difficult.
Tottenham and their Premier League rivals may well keep tabs on Ferguson moving forward but for now, they will have to go and look elsewhere.
