Reports emerged on Wednesday that Tottenham Hotspur could be the subject of a £3.1billion takeover in the coming months – and Goal say that a takeover from Jahm Najafi could actually stop Harry Kane from leaving the London side.

Kane, 29, has entered the final 18 months of his Tottenham contract. Bayern Munich and Manchester United are being linked with summer moves for the England skipper. Tottenham’s finish in the League could determine Kane’s future.

Spurs currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League and do have a chance of making the top four. Newcastle’s form of late has dipped, drawing their last three league games. Spurs also remain in the Champions League and FA Cup.

So, the top four and trophies remain a possibility for Kane and Spurs this season. That may convince him to remain. But now, Goal claim a takeover could convince – or prevent – Kane from leaving the club. Najafi may hold the key to Kane.

The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Najafi is eyeing a move to buy Tottenham – in a £3.1billion deal. Even Simon Jordan has already had his say on it, claiming Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis would jump at the chance to cash in.

Why would a takeover prevent Kane from leaving in the summer? Well, Spurs – as things stand – may have to consider selling Kane this summer in order to bring in a fee for him. That fee is necessary, in order to sign a Kane replacement.

If Spurs are bought by Najafi, an incredibly wealthy businessman, then it might be that getting some cash for Kane simply does not matter. It also may tempt Kane to stay, if an influx of big-name players come in. Time will tell, at Spurs.
