Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on River Plate striker Lucas Alario.
According to The Independent, Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on River Plate attacker Lucas Alario – but his club don’t believe he’ll ever be sold to an English club.
Spurs have seen Harry Kane thrive again this season, but they moved to bring in cover by signing Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar – and the Dutchman was expected to make a big impact having scored 31 times last season.

However, Janssen has been a major flop for Spurs so far, as he’s scored just three goals – one of which came in the Premier League – and all of his goals have come from the penalty spot.
With the Dutchman struggling, Spurs may look for other strikers, and one player being linked with the club again is River Plate’s Lucas Alario, after TyC Sports reported over the summer that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen on the striker.

The Independent claim that whilst Tottenham are keen on River Plate’s Sebastian Driussi, they also retain an interest in his team-mate Alario, who has hit 23 goals in 49 games for River since a 2015 move from Colon.
The 24-year-old striker, who is great in the air despite standing just shy of 6ft tall, has now earned two caps for Argentina, and his performances have caught the eye of compatriot Pochettino.
However, the report states that River don’t think Alario will ever be sold to an English club, as he has a complicated third-party ownership status that may deny him a move to the Premier League, as Liverpool have previously given up on trying to sign him.
Pochettino may well like Alario, but he may be a player that ends up in Italy, Spain or Portugal, with Spurs keeping tabs on him over the coming years to see if his ownership status becomes clearer in the future.
