Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been tracking the centre-back for quite some time.
According to a report from Calcio Napoli 24, Tottenham remain interested in signing Sampdoria ace Joachim Andersen, but they are being put off by his €40 million (£35 million) asking price.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to bolster this central defensive ranks this summer, with Toby Alderweireld being tipped for an exit and Jan Vertonghen on the wrong side of 32.
And Andersen could be just the ticket for Tottenham.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the Danish centre-back is strong and commanding in the air, and he is also an excellent reader of the game – something that makes up for his lack of pace.
Calcio Napoli 24 claims that Spurs boss Pochettino remains very keen on bringing Andersen to north London, but they are not prepared to pay his £35 million asking price.
Tottenham might just have to break the mould, however, and spend big on Andersen, because in today’s market, £35 million for someone of his quality would surely have to be considered as excellent value for money for the north London outfit.
And if Spurs don’t pay up, there will surely be other clubs who will, with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United also interested in acquiring his services, according to a report from Calcio Napoli 24.
