Tottenham Hotspur have been closely monitoring the Barcelona midfielder’s situation all summer, according to reports.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Sport, Tottenham remain interested in signing Barcelona midfield ace Andre Gomes, but the players himself would prefer a return to his previous club Valencia.
The 24-year-old joined Barcelona from Valencia in the summer of 2016, for a fee that could eventually rise to £46 million, according to BBC Sport, but he has so far failed to establish himself at the Camp Nou.

That isn’t to say that he doesn’t still have plenty to offer at the very highest level, though, and it could be argued that he hasn’t been given ample opportunity to prove himself with the Spanish giants.

Tottenham are still keen to bring him to the Premier League, according to Spanish publication Sport, but they could be set to face disappointment in the race for the Portugal international’s signature.
Sport claim that Barca are willing to sell Gomes this summer, but the player himself prefers a return to Valencia, rather than moving to England.

There is of course still plenty of ways in which Spurs could tempt the Barcelona man into joining them, most notably the exciting project that Mauricio Pochettino is currently overseeing at the club.
Valencia obviously represents a strong pull for the Portuguese, however, so Tottenham will certainly have their work cut-out.
