Tottenham Hotspur defender wants new contract.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is still at loggerheads with the club over a new contract.
Alderweireld’s deal at Spurs expires next summer and the club are not willing to meet his demands for a new deal.
The Times reports Tottenham are open to selling the Belgian this summer and will consider offers.
Alderweireld wants £150,000 per week and is frustrated when comparing his current £50,000 a week contract to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk signed for the Reds last month and earns £180,000 per week.

Not unreasonable
Alderweireld’s demands are not unreasonable and the comparison with Van Dijk is logical, as this is now the market rate for a top centre-back.
The majority of fans in the Premier League would agree Alderweireld is a better defender than Van Dijk too, and if he wanted to, he could surely command more elsewhere than the salary he is asking for at Spurs.
Last summer Tottenham lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City and Danny Rose made his misgivings clear over the club’s wage structure, expressing his frustration that he could earn elsewhere.
Alderweireld leaving would be terrible for Tottenham in that it would mean a top star leaving for the second year in a row and make their defence a lot weaker.
