The Daily Star report that Tottenham star Richarlison was involved in a physical altercation with Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu while the two substitutes were warming up on the touchline during Sunday’s North London bout.

Spurs were easily beaten after a woeful first-half performance. Summing up their recent form, Spurs gifted Arsenal the opener – thanks to a mistake from Hugo Lloris, fumbling an effort from Bukayo Saka. Martin Odegaard got a second.

Richarlison returned from injury to make his first appearance since the World Cup. He featured for the last 20 minutes of the match, while Japan international Tomiyasu entered the fray on 86 minutes. The duo were involved beforehand.

Thomas Partey was lining up a throw in the second half. Richarlison was arms aloft while warming up, a few yards away from Partey – who was taking his time. Richarlison looked as though he was going to walk towards Arsenal man Partey.

Tomiyasu puts out his arm, to stop Richarlison – who angrily slapped Tomiyasu’s arm out of the way. A video was posted on Twitter after the game of the incident, from Twitter account @2ta_ku3. It was missed during the feisty clash.

It was an afternoon of frustration for Tottenham and the club’s players. Another example of Spurs struggling in the first half, improving in the second 45. But ultimately, not enough. League leaders Arsenal cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win.

But there were positives for Spurs. One of those being Richarlison, coming on to the field of play. A crucial return from injury for Spurs, with Manchester City next up. Spurs have got to put this loss behind them and go again on Thursday.

For Arsenal, the Gunners are now eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. Just one game away from the halfway stage, you would have to suggest that the title is Mikel Arteta’s to lose. But, there is a long, long way to go.
