Chelsea have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Wilfried Zaha.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Chelsea have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha – and the Blues may be about to take advantage of Spurs’ pursuit stalling.

Zaha has been sensational this season. No player in Roy Hodgson’s squad has done more to take the Eagles out of the relegation zone after their awful start to the campaign, with the 25-year-old scoring four times and playing a starring role on a number of occasions – including in their weekend win over Leicester when the former Manchester United man looked simply unplayable.

Unsurprisingly, interest in the Ivory Coast international appears to be growing – with the Daily Mirror reporting that Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs are all keen on Zaha.

The Mirror adds that Tottenham were previously the favourites to sign Zaha, but they suggest that the trail has gone cold, and that could allow the Blues to steal the initiative in the race, with a move potentially on the radar for next summer.

News that Chelsea could put themselves in the driving seat may well frustrate Spurs supporters as Zaha appears to be enjoying the kind of form right now that suggests that he could prove an asset to virtually any team in the Premier League right now.

And with Mauricio Pochettino’s men falling 21 points off the Premier League summit following their defeat to Manchester City at the weekend, it could certainly be argued that Tottenham cannot allow a player of Zaha’s calibre to head to one of their rivals.
