Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing Ruben Dias from Benfica have been played down by Football London.
Dias has emerged as a possible centre-back target for Tottenham in recent weeks, but Benfica want big money for the Portuguese international.
And Football London say that even though Jose Mourinho is a massive fan of the powerful defender, Tottenham will struggle to afford his asking price.
Benfica have been knocked out of the Champions League before the group stages which will hurt their finances, but still seemingly want big money for Dias.
The 23-year-old is arguably their most valuable current player and with Spurs spending fairly hefty sums to bring in Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, their budget is now very limited.

Mourinho is still chasing a centre-back, but Dias may simply be impossible to sign, and that will be a disappointment at Spurs.
For all the good work they have done in the transfer market, there is still a recognition that their squad isn’t totally complete yet, and landing a new central defender before the end of the summer could be key to their chances of success.
