It would appear as if one Tottenham Hotspur signing is already injured.
Ivan Perisic was the first player through the doors at Hotspur Way this summer in terms of signings.
Tottenham moved swiftly to sign the player on a free transfer from Inter Milan, with Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison – who joined on Friday – following the 33-year-old Croatia international to North London.
However, Perisic is currently injured.
According to Football London, the former Inter winger, who played under Conte, spent Friday at Spurs’ training ground working on his fitness ahead of the club’s pre-season tour.
Conte and his troops are flying out to South Korea on July 9 and the report adds that Perisic has been stepping up his fitness regimen in order to be available for that trip.
It’s quite important that Perisic does make that visit.
The whole point of Tottenham getting their business done early is so their recruits can gel with their new teammates as soon as possible, with the upcoming friendlies an ideal time to achieve that.
However, if Perisic is unavailable for the pre-season fixtures in Asia then that’ll set him back a little time.
That being said, this is also a vastly experienced footballer and one who boasts 113 international caps.
At his age, he may be able to simply transition rapidly to Premier League football, and learn to play with his new teammates quicker than, say, a teenage addition.
In any case, Perisic is doing all he can to be fit and hopefully for Conte, he can be fit by this day next week.
