Tottenham Hotspur still want Wojciech Szczesny and are showing more interest than other Premier League clubs.

That’s according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that Szczesny has interest from several teams.

It’s suggested that Premier League interest is strong but especially from Tottenham.

The report notes that, if Szczesny does leave Juventus this summer, then Empoli stopper Guglielmo Vicario would be lined up as a replacement.

Ironically, Vicario has also been linked to Tottenham with CMW claiming Spurs interest earlier this month.

Juventus are yet to have any indication from Szczesny that he wants a summer transfer though, even if the Turin giants would be open to selling.

Wojciech Szczesny chase is a strange pursuit from Fabio Paratici

We can understand Tottenham leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper.

Hugo Lloris is 36 and veteran backup Fraser Forster isn’t exactly the long-term solution between the sticks for Tottenham.

Spurs need to find their future goalkeeper and there have been links to the likes of David Raya and Dean Henderson.

Szczesny doesn’t really fit that bill. The Pole turns 33 in a few weeks and whilst goalkeepers can largely play longer than outfield players, it would be a surprise to see Spurs sign another 30-something goalkeeper.

That’s without even getting into Szczesny’s history with Arsenal.

Szczesny joined Arsenał way back in 2006 and spent 11 years in the Gunners ranks before leaving in 2017.

Szczesny was an unused substitute when Juventus beat Tottenham in 2018, but that didn’t stop him taking to Instagram to mock Spurs, claiming that ‘North London is red’.

Szczesny even admitted in 2012 that he ‘hates’ Tottenham, so seeing him suddenly sign for Spurs would be a shock.

We can understand Fabio Paratici liking Szczesny having signed him for Juventus in the first place, but the idea of luring him to Tottenham seems truly bizarre.
