Tottenham Hotspur could be about to add the young ‘keeper to their ranks.

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur look set to complete a loan move for Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez by the close of business today, with the option of a £6million permanent switch next summer provided certain criteria are met.
Lopez would join at a time when Spurs stopper Hugo Lloris is temporarily side-lined due to injury, meaning he could have an early chance to battle Michel Vorm for a starting spot.

That said, in the longer term it seems he would act as back-up to the French international, with Vorm likely to move on if he drops to third in the pecking order.
Loan moves for ‘keepers are rare when a player is not automatically thrown in as first choice, but it could be a sign of just how highly Tottenham rate Lopez and how keen they are to get him in before another club makes their move.

The 23-year-old could ultimately prove to be a snip at £6million provided his mooted loan spell goes according to plan.
