Tottenham are set to pounce for Arkadiusz Milik’s signature with Jose Mourinho keen to provide competition for Harry Kane, according to a report.
The Express have claimed that Napoli want to sell Milik, who wants to move to the Premier League, and Tottenham are ready to move in for the Poland international.
It is said that Spurs have been monitoring Milik’s situation all summer – he is out of contract next season – and moves to the likes of Juventus and Roma have failed to materialise.
This would be an exciting signing, if it happens, for those in North London and the long cries from the Tottenham fans will be heard after years of asking to bring in proper competition for star man Kane.
Former Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of the player because he claimed in 2019 that Milik is a ‘more complete’ striker than PSG’s Mauro Icardi, as quoted by Calciomercato.
Given how many top strikers Ancelotti has worked with and how Icardi was snapped up by PSG in May for £45 million [Guardian], it just goes to show the talent the Napoli man has in his legs.

Milik is at an ideal age for Spurs, 26, and someone who can still improve and even still have decent resale value if such a situation occurs.
He wasn’t a regular last season, with injuries and appearances from the bench being a frequent occurrence, yet he still managed 11 goals in 26 league matches [transfermarkt].
Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings

- Matt Doherty
£13 million; Wolves
- Sergio Reguilon
£25 million; Real Madrid
- Gareth Bale
Loan; Real Madrid
- Carlos Vinicius
Loan; Benfica
- Joe Rodon

Those figures would be more than welcome at Tottenham if it’s added with Kane’s goals and Heung-Min Son scoring his undervalued goals also.
If Mourinho and Daniel Levy can snap him up then it’ll be the best piece of business they have done together thus far and potentially the best business Levy has done in years.
