Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly on the verge of winning the race for Liverpool and Southampton target Ben Wilmot.

Wilmot looks set for an extremely bright future and was finally given the chance to make his league debut for the Boro on Saturday as he played the full 90 minutes in their draw with Morecambe after 10 games as an unused substitute in the league this season.

But perhaps he may not get the chance to make too many more appearances for the fourth tier side.
It is not clear what the terms of the potential deal may be, but perhaps it would not be a surprise – if Tottenham do indeed sign the defender – to see him stay at the Lamex Stadium for a while after the move has taken place.

Wilmot is still on the periphery of the Stevenage team, so it may make sense for him to get more first-team football under his belt before stepping up.
However, if Pochettino does land him, then perhaps he may feel that his development would benefit most by moving to Tottenham straight away and working with the coaches who have helped bring through a number of talented youngsters in recent times.
