Reports emanating from Spain today suggest that Spurs and Napoli are set for a summer transfer tug of war over Villarreal’s Samu Castillejo, according to Spanish media outlet Calcio Mercato.

The 22-year-old winger has been a regular feature in Fran Escriba’s side this season, making 36 appearances in all competitions thus far.

The Spaniard joined the Yellow Submarines in the summer of 2015 from Malaga, and has divided opinion with his performances over the past couple of years.

While he possesses electric pace, his end product is questionable to say the least, with just three goals and four assists to his name in 36 appearances this term.

However, Calcio Mercato claim that both Tottenham and Napoli are desperate to sign Castillejo this summer, although a fairly substantial transfer fee will be required to prise him away from the Estadio de la Ceramica, with his contract not due to expire until the summer of 2020.

With the future of Erik Lamela growing increasingly more uncertain by the week, the addition of another attacking player could very well feature highly in Pochetitino’s plans, but whether or not the Villarreal winger is the man for the job remains to be scene.
