A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Tottenham’s chief scout Steve Hitchen was in attendance for Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Monaco in the Champions League this week, and has named one of the players on Spurs’ radar.

According to the Mail, Tottenham were having a look at a number of players, including Dortmund’s attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic, who played the full second-half in the Westfalenstadion in a game that the Bundesliga giants would go on to lose 3-2.

Of course, the circumstances of the previous day arguably means that fairly little can be taken from the performances of the Dortmund players in particular, but Pulisic may have earned some credit having filled in at right wing-back when he was brought on.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a promising year in Germany, but has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Thomas Tuchel’s side, so perhaps Spurs are weighing up an offer in the hope that he senses that he may have a better chance of enjoying regular game-time as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

While the United States international clearly boasts an enormous amount of potential, it was another youngster who stole the show on the night, and interestingly, he is another player who has previously been linked with Tottenham.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice for the Ligue 1 side, and it is difficult to imagine that Hitchen would not have been impressed by the 18-year-old with the Daily Mirror reporting in February that Tottenham were one of the clubs keen on his signature.

However, while Mbappe would have definitely impressed, Spurs will know if they have any intention to make a move for him that if he keeps performing the way he is right now, his price will increase almost every time he walks out onto the pitch.
