Could the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder be on his way this summer.
According to a report from Tuesday’s print edition of French newspaper L’Equipe (23/05/17), Tottenham Hotspur will not sell Moussa Sissoko for less than £25.9million.
This comes after a story from Le Journal Du Dimanche claimed Marseille are prepared to offer £21.6million to make the French international one of their key signings this summer.
That report – published on Monday – claimed Sissoko wanted to know the identity of the Ligue 1 side’s other targets before committing to a move, with the 27-year-old wanting his future sorted by the end of June.
However, it seems Tottenham will play hard ball for a player who quickly fell down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, with chairman Daniel Levy allegedly unwilling to sanction a move for anything less than 30m euros.
Sissoko arrived at Tottenham from Newcastle United last summer, in one of the most surprising moves of the transfer window.
Having made little impact in North London this season, despite Tottenham’s impressive campaign, his time could already be coming to an end.
That said, Tottenham will want to get as much money as they can for a player who showed at Euro 2016 just what he is capable of when playing to his fill potential.
Marseille will not want to splurge the vast majority of their summer kitty on one player, but if Levy holds firm, they may have no choice unless they are willing to walk away from the deal all together.
