The Fulham left-back is said to have been the subject of enquiries from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur see Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon as the ideal replacement for Danny Rose.
And the report claims that, due to the record Mauricio Pochettino has of developing English talent, Spurs believe they are in a ‘strong position’ to land Sessegnon – ahead of rivals clubs Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
According to the Telegraph, Rose is ‘expected’ to leave Tottenham in January, ‘after criticising the club’s wage structure in the summer and falling behind Ben Davies in manager Pochettino’s pecking order’.
United have also been linked with a move for Rose, prompting rumours of a possible swap deal involving the 27-year-old and another England left-back, Luke Shaw – who Pochettino knows from Southampton.
However, the Telegraph reports that Sessegnon – for whom Spurs are said to have made enquiries in August – is seen as the perfect addition, having impressed since his breakthrough last season.
The report claims Fulham will be able to demand around £30 million for the 17-year-old ‘if his form continues’, adding that there is no buy-out clause in his contract.
Tottenham hired Sessegnon’s old teammate Scott Parker to their coaching staff last summer. The England Under-19 international previously told the Daily Mail: “Everyone has helped me, but in particular Scott Parker, 100 per cent. What a person to be around, a great player and just a great human being.”
