Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly offered the chance to sign Pablo Sarabia this summer, but have no interest in the attacking midfielder.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Tottenham have rejected the chance to sign Pablo Sarabia after the Sevilla star was offered to Mauricio Pochettino this summer as they consider potential replacements for linked-away Christian Eriksen.
As reported by the Mirror, Eriksen surprised everyone by recently suggesting that he was keen to leave Spurs this summer, and it appears that Pochettino is open to letting him leave as long as a replacement is signed.
The man he is said to want is Giovani Lo Celso, and the Mirror has suggested that Tottenham have already turned down the opportunity to sign Julian Draxler from Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla’s Sarabia, with Spurs not interested in either.
Have Spurs made the right call?
Sarabia actually enjoyed an outstanding season with the La Liga side, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, including 13 in the top flight. He also contributed 13 assists in the same competition and finished with 17 across the board.
The former Spain under-21 international has got an impressive record from his time with Sevilla. But it is difficult to imagine Spurs splashing the cash on Sarabia given that signing a 27-year-old largely goes against the transfer policy that they have operated with throughout Pochettino’s tenure.
And Tottenham will be hoping that they can quickly vindicate the decision to reject Sarabia by landing their key target in that area in Lo Celso.
