Hellas Verona have stepped up their interest in Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.

The Italian side have submitted a loan offer for the French winger, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

The twist for Tottenham is that the loan bid includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

N’Koudou was a big disappointment in his debut season at Spurs last year after a protracted summer transfer saga.

He failed to even earn a Premier League start, having to make do with substitute appearances.

He will be able to say that he did not get a proper chance to show what he can do, but head coach Mauricio Pochettino clearly felt he was not ready.

Spurs spent £11 million to sign N’Koudou last year after an impressive 2015/16 campaign for Marseille in which he scored 10 goals.

A loan deal may be smart, but Tottenham must consider carefully whether they wish to sign off on Verona’s desire to include an ‘option to buy’ as part of the agreement.

Tottenham may want to retain control over his future in case he really lights up Serie A and they feel he is deserving of a second shot.

Judging by players previously sent out on loan by Mauricio Pochettino including Nabil Bentaleb, Federico Fazio and Clinton N’Jie, it is likely a passage towards a permanent exit, so Spurs could take a pragmatic view and decide to accept the offer.
