The Giallorossi and Turkey winger, reportedly valued at £45m, has been linked with Bayern Munich, but Spurs may be quietly confident of his signature.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly received a boost in the race for Roma winger Cengiz Under amid competition from Bayern Munich.
The 21-year-old has impressed at the Stadio Olimpico since his move from Istanbul Basaksehir in the summer of 2017, scoring 13 goals and registering eight assists in 52 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.
This season alone, Under has five goals and six assists in 20 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt), but his achievements are not being matched by Roma, who sit a lowly seventh in the Serie A table.
Spurs initially appeared to have suffered a blow in the race for the Turkey international as ESPN claimed that Bayern had become front-runners for his signature.
The Bavarian giants will lose one of their key players at the end of the season as Arjen Robben is set to depart the Allianz Arena, though he has not decided whether to retire or continue playing.
However, Football London has reported that Under actually prefers the idea of a move to the Premier League – compared to ESPN’s report which simply states he was “keen” – an important point which could sway negotiations in favour of Tottenham.
That said, with Chelsea and Arsenal also said to be in the running, according to Football London, it looks as though it will be a London triple threat battle for Under’s much sought after services.
Tuttomercatoweb have claimed that the attacking player has a price tag of €50m (£45m) and Roma are seemingly playing hardball over his value having reportedly already rejected a €32m (£27m) bid from the Gunners.
