A report in the Sunday Mirror has suggested that Tottenham plan to open talks with Dele Alli, once again, about a new contract as they look to keep him away from some of Europe’s giants, while discussions with Son Heung-min are also on the radar.

The Mirror reports that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is desperate to keep the current squad together while also building upon it during the summer transfer window, and thus, plans to make sure that Mauricio Pochettino’s key men are tied down for as long as possible.

With La Liga pair Real Madrid and Barcelona monitoring the situation, the Mirror reports that Tottenham hope to convince Alli to stay by offering a contract which will see his current wages of £55,000 a week doubled and that will run until 2023 – one year further than his current deal.

Meanwhile, the Mirror adds that Son is also in line to earn a new deal after his tremendous campaign, along with Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose.

While all of the quartet are certainly deserving of fresh terms, it is no surprise that it is Alli who the Mirror expects to be handed a deal that would put him alongside the club’s top earners.

The 21-year-old has been exceptional in just his second season in the Premier League, scoring 16 goals from midfield for Pochettino’s men, and undoubtedly has the potential to be a talisman in a title-winning team.

Meanwhile, Son has perhaps been one of the most pleasant surprises to come from this season, scoring 19 times in all competitions, including 12 in the top flight.
