According to Football.London, Paulo Fonseca was promised that Tottenham Hotspur wouldn’t sell Harry Kane this summer.
Fonseca emerged as a top managerial target under new director of football Fabio Paratici, but the deal fell through last week.
Tottenham are now looking at other managers, having already scrapped a move for Gennaro Gattuso – the main they lined up instead of Fonseca.
The Kane promise Tottenham made to Fonseca
It’s now stated that Fonseca’s talks were so advanced with Tottenham that they actually discussed the future of Harry Kane with him.
Tottenham allegedly told Fonseca that Kane would not be sold this summer, and would be part of the squad if he decided to take the job.
Daniel Levy is seemingly very confident that Kane will stay, and whilst Fonseca won’t be his manager, you would assume that the same promise is being offered to other targets.

Manchester City aren’t going away
Tottenham may be telling potential managers that Kane is staying, but Manchester City are seemingly pushing for his signature.
Fabrizio Romano claims that City have lodged an official bid for Kane, and that they could pay £100million plus players in a part-exchange deal.
Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus are all being offered up, but Tottenham will seemingly keep telling potential managers that Kane is staying; let’s see if they can fend off City and keep that promise.
