Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want to sign the Real Madrid hitman.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Tottenham are ready to make an ‘elite proposal’ for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.
Spurs are believed to be in the market for another forward to provide competition for Harry Kane, with Fernando Llorente poised to leave the club this summer.
And Diaz, 25, seems to be the ideal candidate to fulfil that role.
The Dominican only scored four goals for Madrid last season, but he wasn’t really given regular game-time, with Zinedine Zidane starting him just three times in La Liga.
He was superb for Lyon during the 2017/18 campaign, however, racking up 21 goals and six assists in 45 appearances for the French club.
Mariano would be a really useful addition for Tottenham, although it is unclear as to how much he would cost the north London outfit.
Considering the fact that Madrid have already spent heavily this summer, Zidane will surely be more than happy to move the 25-year-old on.
Los Blancos signed Diaz for £30 million last summer, according to BBC Sport, and should Tottenham bid somewhere in the region of that amount, they might just be able to tempt the Spanish giants into selling the striker.
