According to The Telegraph, Tottenham players have been told to prepare for the fact Antonio Conte could take training today.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian hasn’t even been announced as Nuno Espirito Santo’s replacement just yet, although it certainly seems close.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal between Tottenham and Conte is done, after Fabio Paratici managed to change his mind.

Now, players are supposedly being told to prepare for the fact the 52-year-old could organise a session at Hotspur Way today.

That would be quite the shock, in our view, if Conte actually oversaw a training session today within hours of being hired.

The Italian has been away from England, and had to fly in to hold talks with Daniel Levy.

Presumably, Conte hasn’t had a chance to settle back into England yet, and move his belongings back to London.

In that respect, it would be quite impressive if he managed to hold a session at some point today.

Tottenham would mean business under Antonio Conte

It’s things like this that make Conte a serial winner.

If he is taking training literally straight after his arrival is made official, then fair play – he wastes absolutely no time in getting stuck in.

Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season at Stamford Bridge, which included a 13-game winning run.

He also took Inter Milan from a fourth-place finish under Luciano Spalletti on 69 points, to a second-place finish on 82 points in his first season.

Conte then won Serie A last term, before leaving the San Siro.

Amazingly, Conte also won the Serie A title in his first season at Juventus in 2011/12, doing so without losing a single game.

Clearly, the Italian makes things happen, and fast.
