According to The Telegraph, Joe Hart may now be required to start for Tottenham in the north London derby against Arsenal this Sunday.
Why? Well, The Telegraph‘s report states that doubts over Hugo Lloris’ fitness remain, even after he sat out the 3-3 Europa League draw against LASK on Thursday evening.
This would be a big moment, should it happen. Hart is yet to play in the Premier League for Spurs since signing on a free transfer over the summer.
In fact, the former Manchester City glovesman – who earns £51,923-a-week – has only made six appearances for Tottenham since teaming up with Jose Mourinho.
Worryingly, Hart endured a tough night against LASK on Thursday. The Austrian side’s first goal, courtesy of Peter Michorl, was fairly close to him, as was Johannes Eggestein’s strike.
We’re by no means blaming the England international for those goals, although you would like to think he’s capable of dealing with them better.
Having said that, Hart is a shot-stopper with a rich amount of top-flight experience under his belt – he could well deliver a masterclass against Arsenal.
Nevertheless, it’ll be a shame if Lloris is missing. The France international has shone under Mourinho this season, conceding just nine goals in ten Premier League games.
The former Lyon keeper also has four clean sheets to his name.
