Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim that Tottenham player Bryan Gil is waiting for a decision from Antonio Conte on his future – with Europa League outfit Real Sociedad also on standby for Conte’s green light.

Gil, 21, joined Tottenham last summer in a deal worth £21.6million plus Erik Lamela from Sevilla. The Spain Under-21 star has a contract at Spurs until 2026, but his first year with the club has not been plain sailing.

Indeed, he played 20 times during the first half of the season but was loaned to Valencia. In 37 appearances for both clubs last season, Gil did not score a single goal. But he did impress at Valencia and Conte is taking a look.

Instead of being left at home with Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks, Gio Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, Gil has travelled to South Korea. But Conte is yet to make a decision, and both he and Sociedad are waiting to make a decision.

Tottenham player Gil waiting for Conte decision: Sociedad keen

Tottenham have been active this summer – bringing in Richarlison and Ivan Perisic as attacking options. Steven Bergwijn has gone, but ultimately, Gil has little chance of breaking into this Tottenham side.

Behind the front three of Richarlison, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, Spurs have Perisic, Lucas Moura and Dejan Kulusevski. There are other options. Gil can play in an attacking midfield role, but Conte likes defensive midfielders.

Reports state that Tottenham would prefer to send Gil on loan to a club in European action. Sociedad have qualified for the Europa League and a move to the Spanish club seems to fit. But both are waiting for Conte to give the green light.
