Italian outlet Club Doria claim Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is still training by himself at Serie A side Sampdoria as he looks to overcome injury – with the report claiming that there seems to have been “no progress” with Winks.
England international Winks, 26, joined Sampdoria on loan in the summer. It comes after just 30 appearances for Spurs last season in all competitions. He fell down the pecking order following the January additions of Rodrigo Bentancur.
In the summer, Yves Bissouma joined from Brighton, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp have remained at Spurs. So, there was no space in the middle of the park for the Tottenham graduate – despite 203 games for Spurs.
He was one of four players forced to train by themselves in the summer. Along with Gio Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Sergio Reguilon. All four have gone on loan. Lo Celso to Villarreal, Ndombele to Napoli, Reguilon to Atletico.

Ndombele has scored and is starting the odd game for Napoli, Lo Celso is first choice for Unai Emery. Reguilon, like Winks though, remains injured. Neither have made their debuts for the clubs that they have gone on loan to.
Tottenham midfielder Winks is still training by himself at Sampdoria
The report states that Winks is training by himself. An ankle injury has forced Winks on the sidelines and he is yet to appear for the Serie A side. They could really do with him too, as they sit rock-bottom – winless in nine matches.
Club Doria state that there has been “no progress”. Sampdoria boast a permanent clause in the loan, but as things stand, that is unlikely to be exercised. Winks is at a standstill moment in his career, and things really need to get going.
But while he remains injured, it looks unlikely he will feature. With Sampdoria at the foot of Serie A, it might be that even if he does perform well – relegation will ruin any chance of a permanent move. Plenty to do for Winks, then.
