Report: Tottenham plan £3m bid for Manchester City’s Jadon Sancho amid contract stand-off

Tottenham Hotspure are reportedly hoping to land Jadon Sancho before the transfer deadline.

According to The Mirror’s live transfer blog (20:55), Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a £3million bid to sign Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho before the transfer deadline.

Whilst Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez is poised to join Spurs in a deal that could reach a club-record fee, Spurs have had a quiet summer, having failed to land any other signings.

With just over a week to go until the transfer deadline, many expect Tottenham to be busy late in the window, just as they were last year, as they signed Pau Lopez, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Moussa Sissoko on deadline day last summer.

Tottenham remain keen to stick to their approach of signing talented young players with potential, and The Mirror now report that Spurs are looking to land Manchester City’s Jadon Sancho in a £3million deal.

Sancho, 17, joined City from the Watford ranks back in 2015, and he has not only starred for City’s youth teams, but also for England at youth level, having hit a combined 19 goals in 23 caps for the England Under-16’s and 17’s.

The winger is now keen to play first-team football, and with City so far unable to convince him that he can feature under Pep Guardiola, the youngster is looking to leave this summer – and has already turned down contract offers to stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham are now hoping to swoop in and seal a deal, offering a £3million fee to sign Sancho before he walks away from his contract for a compensation fee next summer.

Spurs have already failed in one move for Sancho, having requested that he was included in the deal that saw Kyle Walker leave Tottenham for Manchester City earlier this summer, but they now hope that a cash offer can tempt City into selling their disgruntled teenager.

Given that Mauricio Pochettino has developed Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane – and is now looking to develop Kyle Walker-Peters and Harry Winks – Sancho may feel that Tottenham can offer him the chance to play regularly at a young age, but whether City will back down remains to be seen.
