Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to sell midfielder Tom Caroll in January.

According to Sunday’s edition of The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sell midfielder Tom Carroll in January for a ‘reasonable price’, with Mauricio Pochettino eyeing another midfielder.

Spurs battled back to claim a 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday, but it’s now seven games without a win in all competitions for Tottenham, and manager Pochettino may be looking towards the January transfer window for potential changes.

Whilst fans may be keen on new signings, the focus could be on getting some fringe players out of the club, and midfielder Tom Carroll certainly fits into that category.

The 24-year-old has come up through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and after loan spells with Leyton Orient, Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City, he racked up 27 appearances for Spurs last season, scoring three goals.

Carroll was handed a new contract over the summer, but given that his previous deal was set to expire next summer, cynics suggested that Tottenham only extended his deal to protect themselves for losing him on a free – and that may well be the case.

The Sun (06/11/2016) report that Tottenham are open to selling Carroll for a ‘reasonable price’, with chairman Daniel Levy no doubt ready to drive a hard bargain for a player who starred on loan at Swansea during the 2014/15 season.

Diminutive midfielder Carroll has played just one minute of Premier League action this season, coming on as an injury-time substitute against Crystal Palace (WhoScored), and his only other appearances have come in the EFL Cup as he has slipped behind youngster Harry Winks in the pecking order.

It’s added that manager Pochettino may actually be keen to add another central midfielder in January, which would push Carroll even further down the pecking order – and at 24, he will want to play first-team football, and may have to follow former team-mate Ryan Mason out of White Hart Lane to get it.
